Information Technology Infrastructure Library

ITIL is the most widely accepted approach to IT service management in the world. ITIL provides a cohesive set of best practice, drawn from the public and private sectors internationally. The Information Technology Infrastructure Library® (ITIL®) is a methodology for managing IT as a service. It focuses on the end user rather than on the technology. ITIL is frequently used as a method of preparation for achieving ISO/IEC 20000 certification.
IT Service Management (ITSM) derives enormous benefits from a best practice approach. Because ITSM is driven both by technology and the huge range of organisational environments in which it operates, it is in a state of constant evolution. Best practice, based on expert advice and input from ITIL users is both current and practical, combining the latest thinking with sound, common sense guidance.
Information Technology has become part of the core service deliverable in virtually all sectors, thus it is important that those that are charged with the Information Technology responsibility develop both knowledge and skills in creating sublime service value as recommended in the widely accepted standard of ITIL
